We are well aware of the fact that smartphones are the most growing technologies in this era. Also the performance of Smartphone camera is improving a lot. But the main question is that, do we need a camera in smartphone with 64MP or the smartphone manufactures are just playing with us the game of Megapixels.
So in this post your all queries will be solved.
A few months ago Realme launched Realme XT , the first smartphone to have 64MP camera and after the launch of this 64MP sensor the game of Megapixels started .
Xiaomi is also testing 108MP camera in its MI Note 10.
Every smartphone manufacturer started providing a sensor with 48MP camera.
But think again if Megapixels have really mattered then Iphone, Samsung ,Google pixel should also have gone with this idea and have given 64MP camera or atleast 48MP camera but these companies are still having 12MP camera sensor with their flagship phones.
Before we go ahead let us first know what are Megapixels?
WHAT ARE MEGAPIXELS??
Megapixel refers to the size of an image, usually in reference to a photo from a digital camera or camera phone.
A megapixel means one million pixels. The resolution of digital cameras and camera phones is often measured in megapixels.
For example, a 12-megapixel camera can produce images with 12 million total pixels. Since pixels are usually square and form a grid, a 1-megapixel camera will produce an image roughly 1200 pixels wide by 900 pixels high.
So I hope you have understood what is Megapixels.
WHY MORE MEGAPIXELS ARE NOT MUCH IMPORTANT :
1) Most people thinks that Megapixels improves the quality of the image but the real fact is that
with increase of megapixels the quantity of pixels in image increases which doesn't mean that quality of the image will improve because quality of image depends on other factors such as lens, sensor size, aperture and software optimization.
2) With more megapixels the size of the image increases which will surely end your phone storage very fast because a single image from 48 megapixel will take around 10-12MB storage.
3) As manufacturer provides 48MP or 64MP camera the default camera app should be well optimized because sometimes the camera applications lags a lot.
WHY MORE MEGAPIXELS ARE IMPORTANT
1) With more megapixels in smartphone the object can be zoomed from far distance without much pixels blurred.
2) To print an image in very large paper megapixels play an important role because of the more captured pixels in the image.
CONCLUSION
Smartphone camera always fascinates most of the buyer but it should be kept in mind that megapixels are better if you only want good digital zoom but for good image quality you should also check the sensor size, aperture, lens because these things matter more for good image quality this is why most premium phones like iphone , Samsung, Sony etc give less megapixels.
So I hope from now you will certainly not run after the megapixel game and will also consider other factors for the smartphone camera.
